BLACK BACHELORS: NBA Draft inspires dating guide to help athletes find quality dates and mates

Dating Guide for the NBA Draft 2016( – When it comes to interviewing players about their personal lives or getting professional sports wives and girlfriends to open up, few have had the success that journalist DC Livers has had.

“It started as a kind of joke. I was poking fun of LaLa Anthony‘s 1000 inch custom blue heels that she wore to the press conference introducing her husband. I snapped a pic and tweeted it. People freaked out. They wanted more. Prior to LaLa, there was hardly much interest in dressing nice at the games but when she came the fashion shot through the roof. And not just for the girls. The players upped their game as well,” Livers said.

Using interviews she’s already done with professional sports wives and girlfriends – and the players themselves – Livers says she hope the guide will help keep the players from being victimized by women who seek only to take advantage of them.

UNDER FIRE: Black Lives Matter joins forces with Trump? (Sorta)

Slide1 ( – Even with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump refusing to disavow the support of the Ku Klux Klan and declaring “All Lives Matter” at a rally, Coca-Cola and other companies still have not canceled their sponsorship of the RNC. Many point out Coca Cola’s heavy investment in apartheid, which sought to make Africa more white than Black, and say the company’s racial legacy is too strong to ignore.

In an equally puzzling twist, Viacom, which owns BET, VH1, Logo (the gay network) and others, is heavily funded by Coca Cola. From it’s Sprite partnership at the BET Awards to the controversy Coca Cola sponsorship of the 2016 Black Girls Rock, Viacom’s critics say it is selling Black culture.

That’s why it’s so surprising that Patrisse-Cullors – who is credited as one of the founder of the Black Lives Matter movement – would allow her organization’s work to be ensnared in such a messy situation. It’s like the time when Oprah let GOP candidate George W. Bush kiss her on her show. (He was elected a short time later.) Continue reading

8 Awkward Moments at The Oscars( – It was America’s most glamourous night but for some it was a night of protests, tense racial division and controversy. But if you were in the interview room following the Oscars, you’ll know it all good and a bag of chips.

From Leo DiCaprio receiving a roaring applaud from the media as he stepped into the Oscars Interview Room to give his first official press conference to the journalists to Mark Rylance’s brave speech to the press, it was easy to see why many would think that Oscar award winning singer Sam Smith would breeze through his press conference.

Unfortunately, that was not the case. During his Oscar Acceptance speech, Smith said he was the first openly gay man to win. He was quickly taking to task by social media, journalists and others. Even members of the press seemed confused why he would make such a bold statement without checking the facts prior.

So when was given the opportunity to have the last question of the night with Sam Smith, our reporter wanted to remind him that despite mistakes he was valued and appreciated.  (Read Sam’s Answer) Continue reading
