Bobbi Brown, whose make up line has attracted international attention, says it’s time to stop “keeping up” and time to get “get real.”
“When I see contouring on people’s faces, it looks like dirt,” Brown tells New York Post. “As a beauty expert, I believe in individual beauty, and it’s just not my aesthetic. We don’t need to be contouring like the Kardashians.” Brown’s preferred look: a natural, healthy and fresh face.
We agree. Not only does the look not look natural but it’s almost like saying “Black is not beautiful.” Want a natural, beautiful look? Here’s how to get it:
“The contouring trend is so wrong because it tells women there’s something wrong with their face,” Brown says. “There’s beauty in a full face, so I don’t like to paint in a cheekbone that doesn’t exist.”
Instead, she suggests women highlight their natural cheekbones with a creamy rouge, or use a moisturizer that gives a subtle glow.
“Too often you can tell that it’s been done,” she says. She recommends turning to moisturizers and creams that will smooth skin more gradually. Or, embrace your wrinkles and play up something else. “You’re supposed to see those lines,” she says. “I like to take attention away from what’s bothering me on my face, so I’ll make my eyes stand out.”
